How to make coffee cream

Now we´ll come to the point and find out how to prepare the coffee cream. To make coffee cream, you have a choice of three different recipes, depending on the result you want to obtain, what you have in your kitchen and your preferences. Here we´ll discuss all three recipes for coffee cream.

Classic coffee cream

We´ll start with the recipe for classic coffee cream, which follows the traditional steps and doesn´t require the use of an electric whisk or similar appliances, just a cocktail shaker or an ordinary bottle. This is a fresh, summery recipe, as well as being very quick to make and perfect to serve to your family or guests after lunch or mid-afternoon.

To make classic coffee cream for 4-6 people, you´ll need:

  • 300 ml whipping cream
  • 2 cups of espresso
  • 1 spoonful of icing sugar

First of all prepare the coffee, choosing your preferred method: pods, capsules or ground coffee in a moka. If you opt for capsules, make sure they´re compatible with your coffee machine. Once the coffee is ready, allow it to cool in the fridge or freezer, depending on the time you have available. The cream should be fridge temperature to obtain the desired result.

Take the coffee out of the fridge, pour it into the shaker or bottle along with the liquid cream and the icing sugar, close the lid carefully and shake very vigorously for about a minute.

Et voilà, your classic coffee cream is ready to enjoy!

Coffe cream in a Bimby or Thermomix

To prepare coffee cream using a Bimby, just follow the same steps as for the classic version, but when you put the (cold) liquid cream in the bowl, you use your electric whisk to obtain a creamy texture. Now just add the sweetened and chilled coffee little by little while the whisk is running.

Bimby coffee cream is a much faster way of preparing this delicious recipe, and guarantees excellent results for your summer gatherings!

Coffee cream without cream

Instead of classic coffee cream containing cream, which may be too heavy for some, you can always opt for an alternative without the cream. This is the perfect option for anyone with an intolerance that that means they are unable to eat cream. Now we´ll find out how to prepare coffee cream without cream, starting with the ingredients.

First of all, for coffee cream without cream, we´ll need:

  • 40 g soluble coffee
  • 250 ml cold water
  • 200 g granulated sugar

If you´re looking for a result that´s thick, creamy and light, make sure you´ve cooled the water correctly, if possible placing it in the fridge for an hour or so, or in the freezer for 15 minutes. The coffee you use must be soluble, so forget about the moka or pods, as these will not give satisfactory results.

Having chilled the water, place your soluble coffee in a recipient and add the cold water and the sugar. You can reduce or increase the amount of sugar depending on how sweet you want your coffee cream without cream.

Now take an electric whisk and mix all the ingredients for about 5-10 minutes, until the mixture is thick and foamy. And that´s it, your coffee cream without cream is ready: just pour it into cups or glasses and serve to your guests!

Storage, calories and tips

Now your coffee cream is ready, you might be wondering how to store it. Since it contains delicate fresh ingredients like cream, in general it´s really not a good idea to freeze it. Instead, if you don´t use it all, it will keep in the fridge for up to 24 hours; just stir it again before serving.

If you want to give your coffee cream an extra special touch, you can add a spoonful of nutella or hazelnut cream before shaking it or using the electric whisk. Obviously, this is a slightly more delicious alternative to the classic coffee cream which, if you follow the traditional recipe, is fairly low in calories compared to a more substantial dessert: approximately 185 calories per 100 grammes, making it suitable for people who generally take care of their figures.
